Team Robeks is proud to announce its first athlete of the month, Aracelly Clouse. Aracelly started off the season like a ball of fire finishing second overall in the Chonoko Duathlon series. She captured the first place title in her age group 30-39 by a landslide. Watch out for her this season as she takes on the Xterra series. She is sure to dominate! Aracelly was born in Santa Monica, California. She didn’t really compete in sports growing up, but she always enjoyed running. In fact, her first competition was in 1998 and it was a marathon. She went on to compete in 3 more marathons (in between having kids.) In June of last year, she decided to switch to triathlons. She says her strongest leg is definitely the run and her weakest, like most, is the swim! She is the mother of two small boys and says they keep her extremely busy. When asked what it is like to juggle being a mom and an athlete she replied, “The fact that I am able to use my training as an outlet is wonderful. Being able to pursue what I enjoy allows me to be a better more balanced mother.” She lists Lance Armstrong as her inspiration and she feels blessed to have a very supportive husband. With so many races this season, Aracelly is excited about all of them. “I am looking forward the most to the Xterra USA Championship in Lake Tahoe, assuming I qualify. The views are spectacular and I love being in the mountains.” It is no wonder the Flume trail is her favorite mountain bike ride. But she does get freaked out about falling off the cliff. Since Aracelly is new to the sport, she doesn’t really have a least favorite race. But she does say that any Xterra course that she has not done will yield the most anxiety. Aracelly, nicknamed “Cell,” absolutely loves being a part of TEAM ROBEKS and has this to say, “Nothing beats having great friends to train with! In addition, I have been given the opportunity to learn from one of the best athletes in the world, and believe me, I am thankful for it!” Congratulations to Aracelly for being athlete of the month. Good Luck this season at all of the races and in achieving your main goal: qualifying for the Xterra World Championships in Hawaii. |
